How To Get The Most From Your Article Marketing?

Marketing is a well established method for getting traffic to your site. It is still proven to be one of the best methods today for building back links to to your site to get high rankings in the search engines.

So let's say that an article for distribution on the net is optimized for the keyword you are trying to rank your own site for, gets picked up by some high quality websites that have a high PR. Now you have just created very strong competition for yourself. One that you may not even be able to compete with as they are well established, let alone get the #1 ranking for!

A page on those sites is now also d for that same keyword. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying you should not be targeting the 'longer-tail keywords' you have found from the keyword research, but just not the ones you have optimized a page for on your own site. It is my belief that there is only one effective way that article marketing should be done to get the most benefits...

The Most Effective Article Marketing Strategy

When I start a campaign for marketing with articles it is for the purpose of building back links to one or more of my website pages. This is to get those pages to rank well in the search engines. First I will write the content and a title, WITHOUT the keyword I have one of my money pages optimized for. Then the articles will be submitted to article directories and blog networks.

When those articles are well written and provide some quality content then something really amazing will happen. A lot of website owners will want to publish that article also on their site...Bammm, you suddenly start to get more back links without doing any extra work. On the other hand when that site is well established with lots of readers you have a high change of direct visitors to your own website from that same article.

Just write your content first and then think of a compelling title WITHOUT worrying about what keyword to use. The title is what gets people to read your article, so just write what you think.

Of course there is the well-known strategy of keyword optimizing the articles for distribution. This is done to be able to 'dominate the first page of Google', but I am not interested in those little spammy sites that will only last on page one for a few weeks. Unless you spend a lot of time to write articles for all those little web 2.0 sites on an ongoing basis to keep them on page 1.

Personally I prefer to write some good quality articles, without worrying too much about keywords, that are being distributed and then picked up by other webmasters. This way I have my own website pages ranking on position #1 in Google in no time. And it takes a lot less of your time too.
