Article marketing can provide tremendous benefits for your business, but as with all marketing efforts, your articles should be optimized to take advantage of the unique medium the internet provides to meet your specific business goals.
Your articles should be carefully crafted to provide valuable content to your potential clients. And beyond this critical baseline, consider the following tips for making your articles rank well and provide the traffic you want and need.
1. Target your articles with the keywords and phrases your audience is looking for. When you are trying to rank for a particular keyword you will want that keyword in a prominent position like the headline. There's also search value in having it in bold and/or shown as a link.
2. Spend time creating a eye-catching headline. Craft email headlines that demand to be clicked for more ideas about this subject.
3. Know what specific problems your product or service solves. Rather than simply writing in order to publish, you want to create content that meets your potential customer's needs.
4. Use your resource box to build an email list. Most article directories will allow you to provide only one or two links back to your site. Create a valuable incentive (offer a free trial, discount, etc.) and use this link to convert your reader to an email list. That way you can continue to get your brand in front of them.
5. Employ bullet points and numbered lists. These kinds of lists make your content easier to take in quickly, and search engines like them as well.
6. Don't forget your call to action (CTA)! You want your readers to act so don't let them leave without telling them what you want them to do. A good place for your CTA is the resource box, but your entire article should lead up to your call.
7. Promote your articles. Don't forget to share your articles. Send them out in newsletters, on your social profiles, and your blog. The more you can get the links to your content out, the higher your click and read rates will be and the better your conversion rate will be.
8. Collect your articles for an ebook. After you write and publish a good set of articles in a narrow interest area, you can take the content you've created and put it together into an ebook for people to download. Offer your ebook as an incentive for signing up for your email list, and keep offering value.
